Reportage wedding photography
Reportage style photography is often described as a more natural and candid view of the wedding day. Reportage literally means to report or document. Generally this type of photography generates many more photographs. Some photographers often tilt these types of photograph. This style of tilted photography is not new, and in fact comes from a photographic composition technique called the French tilt. Done properly this is an effective tool for composition, and is effective if sparingly used. Overall this type of photography captures the essence of the whole day, and tells a story, from start to finish. Often reportage is black and white
Reportage photography has its roots in the late 60’s when journalists and enthusiasts had the new smaller more compact cameras, which took more shots, quicker, and a flashgun that could recharge within a few seconds. Prior to that you had very little choice at all – traditional or traditional!
